Members

Our annual election of officers will take place at the December business meeting.
The club bylaws prescribe that nominations for these elections are to be made by a Nominating Committee.

I am currently acting as the Nominating Committee.

I am seeking nominations from any members eligible to run for one of the elected officer positions.

You can see more information on the club web site where the bylaws are posted.

Positions that will be elected include:

President
Vice President
Treasurer
Secretary

The Bylaws call for the nominating committee to recommend a list of candidates at the October Meeting. Since we did not have the committee in place, the list of candidates is still open for anyone else that is interested. The nominations will probably be closed at the November meeting instead of in October, so if you have a recommendation or if you are interested in a position then let me know.

There has been much discussion of late regarding how the bylaws are written. In short, they are what they are at least for now, so we have to try to follow the spirit of the bylaws to the best of our ability in order to keep the club moving forward.

Please keep any correspondence on topic and that is;

Suggesting names of people that want to help the club by taking an officer position.

I cannot respond to why the bylaws say what they say or why they might need to be changed or how some other interpretation is better.

We need to move forward with what we have so lets get through the election process as best as we can and we will try to synch up the Bylaws with more current definitions and rules as we go forward in 2015.

If we can't get nominations ahead of time, then the only other option will be to fill nominations from the floor at the November or December meetings.

We really cannot run the club with fewer officers so we may need to be flexible with the related bylaws regarding eligibility etc. If we cannot get 4 active regular members that are willing, we may need to take a second pass at filling the positions with others (e.g. family members, husband & wife, etc.) It is my intention to recommend a slate based on the published bylaws if we can get 4 independent nominees. Otherwise, the club will need to decide what 'exceptions' might be necessary.

Please plan to attend the November Meeting - we need a quorum of regular members to conduct votes and do the club business.

Thank you
