Veterans Day Special Event Station Reminder
On Veterans Day, Tuesday, November 11, TALARC will operate a Special Event Station to honor veterans and to underscore the honorable nature of military service. Operating under the FCC-issued special call sign W9L, the station will be up from 0900 to 1600 EST.
Ham radio operators wishing to contact the station should tune to 20 meters – 14.275 MHz USB, +/- 5 KHz, or IRLP Node 4816. In Central Indiana tune to 146.46 MHz simplex or to the 145.17 MHz repeater in Hamilton County, Indiana. After working W9L, send a 9X12 inch self-addressed-stamped-envelope to The American Legion Amateur Radio Club, 700 N. Pennsylvania Street, Indianapolis, IN 46204, and TALARC will provide confirmation on your contact with a Veterans Day Special Event certificate.
See the story on the Legion website: http://www.legion.org/hamradio/224945/legion-club-host-air-tribute-veterans.
If you live in central Indiana conveniently close to the Indianapolis Headquarters offices, and you would like to operate W9L during the special event, we more than welcome your participation. We would, in fact, be grateful for the assistance. Contact TALARC station trustee Joe March at k9tal at legion.org or by twisted pair (landline) at 317-630-1253, to secure a time and make arrangements for access to the headquarters building.
