Hello Cherryville!
Wanted to take a minute of everyone's day to stay in touch with everyone.
Hamfest 2013 preparations are well underway, and we will need everyone's
help to make this year's 'fest a resounding success! Success this year is
more important than ever so that we can have the funding needed to complete
the repairs and improvements to the main .375 repeater and purchase our
emergency operations trailer!
Hamfest 2013, on Saturday May 11, will once again be held at North Hunterdon
Regional High School cafeteria, and we will need help with the usual areas:
Traffic & Parking
Vendor Assistance
Internal Security
Gate Ticket sales
Club Table
Food preparation & sales
Talk-In
Most important this year is getting five to six people to handle the
kitchen/food. We have contacted the high school and determined what we must
do to be permitted to use the kitchen facilities. Tom, NU2W and Doug,
KB2ZZW, have attempted to find an outside organization to handle the food
service, without success. SO, we must step up and do this ourselves this
year. As this year's hamfest chair, I need to have the food team filled out
well in advance of our scheduled hamfest date so we can get planning
completed. I am seeking a motivated club member to lead this team! I know
all of our members want this to be successful. Please call me at
609-578-0618 or e-mail me at ka2oee at yahoo.com prior to our next club meeting
if you are willing to lead this essential part of our hamfest to success. I
am looking forward to hearing from you!
I will bring a sign up chart to the next meeting for the other committees.
Please consider how you will contribute to our success and sign the chart at
the April club meeting.
Other club information for your knowledge includes:
1. 147.375 is running on the backup transmitter while the Henry amplifier
is out for repairs.
2. 147.015 is running on exciter power only until the replacement amplifier
is received
3. Ballots for officer elections for 2013/14 have been mailed by the
secretary. Please be sure to fill yours out and return it by the start of
the April meeting so your votes will be counted. Keep in mind, if your dues
are not paid current by the start of the April meeting, your ballot cannot
be counted. Dues for this year are $30. Please see the treasurer, WB1GOT,
or mail you dues to the club P.O. box.
4. Field Day 2013 is coming up in a few months, co-chaired by Kurt, KR2C
and Glenn, AC2BH. Be thinking about how you will help us make this year's
better than last years.
For those of you who have not heard, Barry, K2BC, is leaving our lovely area
on his way to Texas! Many of you may want to reach out to him to give your
best wishes prior to his departure. Barry has been a club member for many
years and has contributed greatly over the years to the successes of CRA. I
am sure you will agree that he will be missed very much!
Well, that's it for now. Keep one eye on your e-mail box for more club news
items coming your way!
Very best regards,
Bob Grear, KA2OEE
Your President
