Just a reminder, today beginning at approx. 11 a.m., the inventor/developer of FM (that's the mode we use on 2 meters, etc.) is today being commemorated by broadcasting with a rebuilt Armstrong FM broadcasting transmitter on his original FM broadcasting frequency-42.8 MC (MHz)-
Employing a device called a ''phasitron'' which FM modulated the carrier, there will be broadcast coverage of a commemorative plaque being dedicated for Edwin Armstrong. Armstrong as most recall, is credited with the discovery of FM modulation and his station was located at Alpine, NJ which has been recreated. An ''experimental'' license has been granted to broadcast programming on his original frequency from his original location at his Alpine tower. If you have a receiver/scanner capable of standard broadcasting (wideband) FM mode on 42.8 MC (MHz), tune in and send your signal reports to the station. Use the link above for further info.
