                  DAVID SARNOFF RADIO CLUB
                    FEBRUARY 2013 MEETING

                     Cheap and Easy SDR
                      John DeGood NU3E

* Tuesday, February 19, 2013, 7:30 PM

* American Red Cross, 707 Alexander Road, Suite 101,
  Princeton, NJ 08540. See http://n2re.org/ for map and directions.

The wide availability of very inexpensive DVB-T (Digital Video
Broadcast-Terrestrial) USB dongles combined with free, open
source SDR software makes it possible to assemble a wide frequency
range (~50-1800 MHz) all-mode receiver for about $12. Adding a simple
HF upconverter that can be easily constructed for a few dollars in
parts extends the frequency coverage to include the amateur HF bands.

John NU3E will present how you can add this capability to your
shack. He will demonstrate a USB DVB-T dongle with SDR software
running on a 9 year old laptop.

All are invited to join in an informal pre-meeting dinner at the Super
Star East Buffet, 311 Nassau Park Blvd, Princeton, NJ 08540
(same location as our annual holiday party) at 6:15 PM.
