Vonage doesn't work on FIOS lines? And Skype calls? Also Cisco's VoIP
products?
I can tell you none of these are blocked to my CO and I have used VoIP
products without issue on FIOS. Not Asterisk though, but I find it very
hard to believe they are singling out Asterisk.
Are you sure this is just blocking a port (that's a nuisance, we can run it
on another port) or is this *really* traffic shaping/monitoring (literally
looking for SIP packets and dropping packets)? Even if that is the case, I
thought Asterisk allow for encrypted voice now so how would they know?
Does someone have any data points to the contrary that Asterisk will not
work on a residential FIOS line? I am now very curious.
