[RVRC] Internet failure at the Lund residence

Everyone,

Susan has gotten to the point of total aggravation with
Cablevision's inability to restore the phone, cable, & TV service at the
house. She is cancelling service with them, and going over to FiOS.

The tech committee & her have both spoken to Verizon about
what we do with the service at her property. Residential FiOS service has
port blocking in place that would make the use of Asterisk impossible, along
with dynamic security measures that are designed to block VoIP traffic.

Verizon has stated that a commercial FiOS plan would allow
this type of operation, and Susan has decided to sign up for the lowest-tier
of service on that type.

She is asking the club to help defer the initial setup costs
of the transition. It will be a $150 installation charge, and a $150 fee for
the modem. We currently pay $20 a month to Susan for internet usage, and
that will now go up to $60 a month (the FiOS charge for the lowest-tier
commercial service will be a little over $100 a month). In total, we
currently give Susan $100 a month for power + internet, this will go up to
$140 a month.

There is currently no other option available to her at this
time, based on her geographical location. The tech committee & officers have
given approval to this plan, due to her need to confirm the switchover by
this Monday (12/17).

Any issues or concerns regarding this matter should be
directed to Mike, KB2VRM.

Respectfully,

Scott, W2SJW
