A pilot program on Route One near Princeton will try to ease traffic
8/2/2012
For the next three months, drivers who use Route One near Princeton will have to deal with some changes aimed at easing congestion. A 12-week state DOT pilot program starts August 3rd along Route One near Harrison Street in West Windsor, and it's intended to get rid of slowdowns on the highway. If it works, the changes could become permanent. Currently, the right lane of the highway backs up as drivers line up around the "circle" to make left-turns onto Washington Road. So now they'll be closed off, and southbound drivers will have to make a u-turn at the Alexander Road flyover, come back and make a right turn onto Washington Road. Northbound drivers will need to use the Scudders Mill flyover to make a similar maneuver. They'll need to do the same to turn left onto Harrison Street, as the u- and left-turn jughandle there will be blocked as well.
