2012 W2QW HAMFEST
Status Update, November, 2011


1.  Only 6 months to go!
2.  GENERAL
	
•	We still need someone to chair the sign committee is needed. This
involves the setting out directional signs in the local area to direct
sellers/buyers to the event site, and the picking up of the signs after the
event has peaked. A list of setup sites has been predetermined.
•	Club project sales items are under consideration. The club has
requested ideas from the membership for construction project ideas, This has
to be  a product that the members can assemble prior to the hamfest and sell
to the buyers to generate revenue for the club to offset are expenses, WA2C,
John, presented a prototype of a 2m/440 MHz rubber duck HT antenna. John is
pricing out the cost and availability of the construction material needed.
He ask that anyone who has access to stainless wire, different diameter
shrink wrap and/or BNC connector suitable to complete the design . to
contact him. Marty, WB2BEW, proposed that the club assemble 2m ground plane
¼ wave antennas. A recent6 design in one of the ham publication for
assembling such an antenna that is designed for easy break down and assembly
needs to be looked at. John WA2F, presented a design write-up at the October
2011 meeting for a 2m J=pole  designed by W1lCP, Lew McCoy, that appeared in
the July 1994 issue of CQ Magazine on pages 50 & 51. The antenna can be
easily assembled and enclosed in thin wall tubing at a low cost.W2PQ
suggested that we also look at the Slim Jim antenna shown in the recent
issue of QST.
•	Members are asked at this time to indicate which of the above
project we should move forward on as the hamfest is rapidly approaching. We
have to assemble the raw materials and schedule construction workshop in
order to produce the needed quantities. Please let us know what is your
preference project, and availability to help produce the final inventory.
•	If you don’t have a work assignment please contact one of the
chairmen listed below or W2OU or W2PQ. To have a successful event everyone’s
help is needed.

	3.  PARKING COMMITTEE
•	Committee has to discuss space size exceptions. We charge one vendor
for an extra space because he was over the boundary by a foot. They we tried
to sell the sold spot to a third party.
•	.
	
	4.  PUBLICITY
•	Event posted on the ARRL Hamfest website and in the Hudson Division
site..
•	Hamfest sent to WorldRadio and has started to appear in its
publication.. 
	5. FLYERS
•	K2TZ completed the 2012 Hamfest Flyer. It has been posted to the
w2qw.org website.
•	A copy of the Flyer in pdf format has been distributed to all club
members asking that they each make 25 copies.
•	Some members have committed to make additional copies. Others have
submitted their copies to w2ou and w2pq.
•	Distribution of the Flyers will begin in January with the initial
mailing to NJ Clubs.
•	Members going to ham related events and hamfest are asked to take
copies of the flyers for distribution at the event.
	
	4.   INFORMATION:  
•	Need to determine additional information distribution sites.

5.  TICKETS
	W2IU needs to print additional tickets based on supply depleted at
past hamfest.
