More from NNJ ARES on Haiti
Thanks to updated information provided and shared by our NNJ Section NTS Traffic Manager, Dave Struebel, WB2FTX, please use the links below to refer any people asking for how they can go about finding out about family and friends in Haiti.
At this time, mid-day Thursday, very little information is available concerning if or when amateur radio could be a viable asset for and in Haiti for this event. Our served agencies and partners, specifically the Salvation Army and the Red Cross, are actively working to get and forward information, as per their standard, in place, established systems and procedures on those who are in the affected areas.
People with webaccess, can use the link below to get or request specific Info, including being able to see the actual listings of people filed with the International Committee of the Red Cross and to add their own search information related to people in the affected region here: http://www.familylinks.icrc.org/WFL_HTI.NSF/DocIndex/locate_eng?opendocument
and, the Salvation Army/SATERN online Form, for filing formal inquiries, is here: http://qso.com/satern/emailfrm.htm
Lastly, overall information on the Haiti situation, from the International Committee of the Red Cross, is available here: http://www.familylinks.icrc.org/haiti and the latest information from the American Red Cross is available here: http://newsroom.redcross.org/
Also, the US State Department has a 1-800 type number available for inquiries and such which is: 1-888-407-4747
Please share this important and timely information with all whom you think would benefit from such, as part of our assistance from the amateur radio community to those affected and please continue to keep those directly and indirectly affected in your thoughts and prayers.
