SKYWARN Recognition Day 2009 will be taking place this coming Friday evening through Saturday evening. Official operating hours for this 24 hour amateur radio operating event are as follows:

Starting Time - Friday, December 4 2009 - 7:00 PM Local Time (0000z)
Ending Time - Saturday, December 5 2009 - 7:00 PM Local Time (0000z)

"SKYWARNTM Recognition Day was developed in 1999 by the National Weather Service and the American Radio Relay League. It celebrates the contributions that volunteer SKYWARNTM radio operators make to the National Weather Service. During the day SKYWARNTM operators visit NWS offices and contact other radio operators across the world."

In addition to operating from your home station, you are welcome to take part in operations at local NWS office as both  the NWS Mt Holly and the NWS New York (Upton) will be setting up active operations at their locations. You can take part in these operations, by contacting either, for specific information on when, how, etc you can operate at their stations by using the contacts noted below:
