Thank you everyone for your interesting (and often entertaining) thoughts on
the subject. I'm going to see how things work out "as is" for now; no
second cable modem (per many who opined that Comcast would extract their
due). No powerline adapter (too $$$), and no remote (which I've bought once
and died and never worked that well anyhow - the signal has to get TO it
first!) No Cat-V due to 2X10 floor joists in the basement I'd have to drill
through to run cable. Let's see how things work without anything for now.
