[Rover] Down Sizing, 790

Hi guys,
The 1296 module for the TS-790 (UT-10) is, as we sometimes say in the
south, "scarce as hen's teeth." When they are available, they usually
command a high price (several hundred dollars). The radios often sell for
~$700-900 without the UT-10. With the UT-10, $1100-$1300 is more common,
depending on other factors.
I agree with Jack in that the TS-790 is a good contest rig for roving on 2m
& 70cm. I chose it for the true dual band RX capability. The trace function
allows the user to tune across both RX bands simultaneously...very handy. I
also wanted a satellite capable rig for my base operations, so the 790 was
a prime choice. The rig is a bit large, but no larger than my TS-850, which
I use for the IF on 6m & 1.25m.
Jack..nice rover photos..looks like a well thought out and executed rover rig.
