[Rover] Maps for unfamiliar territory

No nothing special with the map. Like you mentioned using grid lines and making sure I am not blocked by high places to the areas I want to reach is where the software really shines.
I decided to start my route for the Jan contest in Va. I found a couple of high spots by traveling down there and looking at at a few places that seemed good on the map. The software also works great plugged into my GPS while traveling. I then pick my route home by what high spots I can get to in the Winter. The real secret is not the map, but taking the time on some vacation or whatever to scout out good high spots. Believe it or not, I always stop at a towns visitor info center. Often it is staffed by retired folks that know all kinds of high spots in their areas!
