Dpends on the number of grids planned, 3-4 grids or less look towards 6-8
hours each. More grids less time unless a grid offers great capabilities
such as higher elevation.

Time of day/night, sleep constraints, national park closing the gate on me!

In my limited experience I try to "work the clock" following the minute hand
for about an hour or so as to find the main direction of the most activity
then focus on that area but still looking around from time to time. Also
knowing the headings for the "Big Guns" lets me knock them out quickly so as
to leave more time to look for everyone else.
