Another possible disadvantage is the price differential between the
FT-847 and the other two rigs.
I've been using an old Yaeesu FT-726 with 6M, 2M and 432 capability.
It is also very large, and it just has two VFO's, so I normally just use
it for 6m and 432. It has the external amp controls for each band, and
can be used as a backup for 2M if needed.
Normally I use a Icom 290H as a dedicated 2M rig. That saves a lot of
juggling of bands in the two VFO's FT-726
