The primary advantage is that you have 50W output on 432 MHz to drive your
external power amplifier (the 100 and 706 have only 25W). Also, your RF
outputs are separate with the 847 versus combined (HF&6, 2&0.7) with both
the 100 and 706.

There are more individual controls available on the front panel of the 847
(with larger knobs). This can be handy while roving. You pay for this with a
larger footprint.

The backlit buttons on the 706IIG are an advantage that neither the 847 nor
100 have.
One common problem on all of these potential mobile/rover/base station rigs
is the lack of individual band selected control signals for 6 through 0.7
meters. This limits your ability to control external antenna relays.

If you chose an 847 you may want to get a recent serial numbered unit that
has the latest factory mods.
