Fwd: [Rover] amp sequencing/controlling

One of the things that I did with all of my transverters and IF and
switching box was the following:
The PTT output (ground on xmt) of the IF transceiver is used to key a small
12VDC multipole relay. You may need a source for the 12VDC for the relay,
but this is often available out of the IF rig. The poles of the relay do the
following:
1. Put the transverter into transmit mode
2. Put the VHF antenna relay into transmit position
3. Can switch any other circuit that needs switching.
It is not a true sequencing arrangement, but for the power levels I use in
the rover, it works just fine.
Now that I run transverters for 903, 1296, 2304, 3456, 5760 and 10368 off
the same IF, I have a 3 pole, 6 throw ceramic wafer switch that transfers
the PTT line to a separate small 12VDC relay for each transverter. Depending
on the configurations of each othe transverters, their preamps, amps and
antenna switching arrangements, the multiple poles came in handy. One pole
also switches the IF input to the approriate xvtr, and another pole controls
the 12VDC to the amplifiers of each of the transverters. I keep 12VDC active
to each transverter to avoid freq drift.
If you want a fool-proof, failsafe sequencing, see W1GHZ's newest circuit
for this--takes a bit of building and a board, parts, etc.
Hope you find this useful...73, Rick, K1DS/R

We just got our DEMI 222 transverter in the mail. Can someone confirm that
the RCA jack for DC power is (+) to center conductor and (-) to outer
conductor like most electronic devices?

We will be using an HTX-100 for an IF radio. We have a "PTT low" output
built into the IF radio, but of course it's only a single output (RCA
jack)...so it's fine for controlling the transverter--but the brick still
requires a control signal. Since we don't yet have a sequencer, we have no
way to automate the brick sequencing process with a ground-on-transmit
control signal. I've heard that a toggle switch can be used to manually
activate the brick before starting to transmit. Has anyone done this? If
so, where did you get the low logic state without the IF radio being in TX
mode? Thanks.
