Dave, there are probably some .33 m and .25 m repeaters in the area. You can find out by ordering the ARRL's Repeater Directory, or you could just look online to see. For getting your ticket, buy the ARRL's Now You're Talking! Technician book. It's a great book and you'll pass first try.
