I went down the powder-coating road once and really regretted it.  The place I used didn't do a very good job and the engravings were filled in way too much.  I ended up getting it removed (which was rough on the panel).  I managed to get one to work "okay" and I think I ended up filling in the engravings on the other one with JBWeld, painting it, and had it silk-screened.  Sad.
