Your dose of trivia for the decade:
Manson Labs did indeed modify a group of R-390’s back in the 1960’s.
The target audience was indeed the NASA flight recovery folks. Manson
was acquired by Halicrafters a bit after the contract was completed. The
Halicrafters folks decided to move the Manson stuff from CT to Chicago.
That didn’t sit very well with the bulk of the folks at Manson. They went
off and started a crystal oscillator company - Vectron Labs.
