[R-390] R-390A ZERO ADJUST CLUTCH

 Sounds like the knob is hitting the stop prematurely.
Turn it to the right until it hits the stop, then loosen the set screw and turn the knob to the left about 1/4 turn, and reset the set screw.  That may give you a it more authority on pushing in the clutch.
