Be happy with your HC-10, Its not that bad.

If you want frustrating, try out a CV-591A; I have one of those on the
shelf and never imagined that someone could jam so many tubes in such a
small space. The CV-591A can only be used in the wintertime to heat up your
garage so your car battery will not freeze if you live north of the Arctic
Circle.

Admittedly I now just feed the IF output in to an SDR, the waterfall
display has spoiled me.
