Why replace a cap in the IF transformer instead of replacing the
transformer? Well, for me it's easier. And, it's cheaper. And, it's an
issue of being conservative with the finite number of spare parts that we
have for our antique toys. There's already sufficient reasons to have to
replace one, like frozen cores and burned up coils. Why add a totally
unnecessary one to the list. I just hope we can keep getting silver mica
caps to replace the bad ones, but I guess there are others that will work.
My IF is still humming along smoothly. Now to find out what's wrong with
the n/l.
Regards, Larry
