[R-390] Tempco

Hello List,

 

Grins & giggles I opened up an old ARRL handbook, 1960. On page 505 there is
a Table 20-V, capacitor characteristic code. Interesting stuff, the sixth
color dot indicates the tempco. So if Larry has one of those IF caps removed
and can see the dots, we might have a winner? Looked up Mouser again for the
200pF, 2%, 300V values. It has a 0 to +70 tempco. 

 

Black is plus/minus 1000 ppm/deg C

Brown is plus/minus 500 ppm/deg C

Red is + 200 ppm/deg C

Orange is +100 ppm/deg C

Yellow is -20 to +100 ppm/deg C

Green is 0 to +70 ppm/deg C

 

YMMV 

 

There are 6 dots on the silver mica caps in my IF deck. Darned metal strap
blocks the dots. Amelco is working for now, soldering iron will remain cold.
