I repaired a broken fingers large knob. These numbers may be all wrong,
but you get the drift. I bought or had a 3/8" drill, chucked it in my
hand drill, drilled out the old fingers and hole to the bottom. Then I
got a 3/8od x 5/16id or whatever size the id shaft is, bronze bushing
from ebay for a few bucks (actually 2). Cut a slot in the bushing to
mimic the fingers, cut to length, maybe I cut 2 slots, can't remember
with a small coping saw ruining the blade. Glued the bushing in the old
knob with slow set epoxy and the knob installed on the shaft so it
looked straight. Let it set for a week or so. Been working fine ever
since and that's been a couple years now. I think I even used the same
lock ring on the thing. Lots cheaper than buying a replacement and I'm
cheap. YMMV. Who's got a machine shop? In my dreams.
