Gordon,

If you got the endpoints to 1KC or slightly better, be happy with that 
and don't remove a turn from the compensator coil.  There is a fine line 
when making the decision to remove a turn from the compensator coil. 
Basically, that only really helps COMSOS PTOS's whose endpoints exceed 8 
khz on the LONG side.  Still, removing the turn is a roll of the dics 
and a countermeasure not to be taken lightly.
