List,

This is a very overdue post.

Not sure what is overdue about it...unnecessary might be more appropriate! Not sure why you felt the need to open this up again at this point....but you did.

I have on file every list post and relevant email since
2001 if I need to prove my point.

Ok you have your gun loaded and are ready to shoot somebody...you can shoot at me if you like!

There are different rules for different members.

Not really...just different rules for different behaviors...I'll comment below.

To answer W. Li’s comment about getting back to
posting technical articles.

It’s simple.

We had two of the most knowledgeable people, Dr. Jerry
and Dallas Lankford, were chased off the list by list members who were
continually disrespectful, argumentative and ungracious.

I disagree. I’ve seen no evidence that Jerry was chased off...I think it was more a matter of the R-390A running its course with Jerry and he moved on to other things. He is spotted on other lists at times.

As far as Dallas, his people skills are what killed him. He angered many folks he interfaced with if he was questioned at all about observations he made. With me mostly it was related to the paper cap issue in the R-390A series and his insistence that only radio’s from the St. Julians Creek pile experienced the cracking, splitting and ultimate failure. He quoted some crazy statistical data that supported his assertion that made no sense and I called him on it. (yup I know he taught statistics) His behavior got him shown out.

Follow him since he left here...he went to another site where he was welcomed with open arms as a guru, went on a tirade there about members of this list and went as far as boiling and freezing caps to try and prove his assertion that the failures had to come from being in the Blue Stripe pile. He ran his course there and is no longer a member there probably due to some of the same reasons he’s no longer here.

Don’t get me wrong, I respect and appreciate his knowledge and the work he has done on the R-390A and other radio’s but his contributions have been no greater than others on this list who are still with us because they know how to behave in a group environment. Dallas displayed the attributes you describe above to many on this list.

Enough of that....

If you want to go back to the posted articles at
the R-390a.net none of the above types of people have ever posted a useful
contribution. Then look at what articles
I’ve written to contribute.

And how much time did you spend researching this?

I’m far from perfect and have made posting errors,
and I’ve apologized when I’ve inadvertently offended someone.

Half a dozen people have commented to me off list
that they lurk but do not post because of the negative treatment received.

That’s quite out of character for this list. People do get corrected when what they publish might be misleading to a list member new to the R-390A...that’s to be expected and should be welcomed. It’s happened to me and I learned from it.

The day that Roger Ruszkowski can no longer post
here this list will die.

I disagree. No disrespect Roger...

There is none who are as kind, patient, and knowledgeable as him.

Finally something we agree on.

Since he repaired the R 3XX series for so long none the list wisenheimers give him any grief. Plus
Roger has forgotten more than the collective wisenheimers know.

I have no reason to believe Roger will find himself in a position to not be allowed to post here because he knows how to interact in a group setting very well. He is well respected because of his depth of knowledge and willingness to share that knowledge with the group in a friendly, non-condescending way...but I think even Roger will tell you...this list existed and was productive before Roger joined and I’m sure he would also tell you he is confident it will exist and carry on after he ceases to participate for whatever reason....and we will all be better for him having shared with us.

None of us are so important that the world will stop turning when we cease to exist....that's just a fact of life.

 Sad truth; unfortunately.

Regards,

Perrier
