Without looking at the radio or the manual, I think there are red paint spots on the gears that line up when the knob should be pointing at zero. I'd double check that.

That should be easy to find in the references.

Before aligning the front end, should the antenna trimmer cap be set to half mesh, then the knob be remounted to the zero numeral? I always get two peaks and they are usually in the numerical scale on the front panel. I am thinking my unit isn't adjusted correctly even though it doesn't seem to matter. Souldn't the other peak be out of the number scale?
