Tom,
For the big item racks go for Craigs list to have them picked up local.
As much as we bad mouth E bay, open an account, get a digital camera
so you can get cover photo's on the E bay adds. Do accept pay pal and then
spend that on line to buy other items you want and need.
Do offer all the books and documents for sale. this stuff will mail easy.
List the stuff in small lots and use longer bid times. You are not trying to sell
it suddenly but rather for the best price. Let the auction time run so folks have time
to find your lots.
Sell off what you can first.
If you are in the Tax bracket and itemize deductions are of use to you, then
QST runs an add every month to donate the rest of the stuff to a school organization.
Once you make contact. They will have some one local come and get all the stuff from you.
I wish I knew where more of that stuff was being sold off to have access to the small parts.
Pile it all up and take some photo's. Cram the photo's onto 3 -4 pages and print about 6 - 8 copies.
Do a Name, City and phone number to call and a starting price for the pile.
Go to the next large swap meet in your area and walk around the commercial venders and
ask them if they would like to buy your lot as shown in the photo's You may have to visit
a couple swap meets to find a buyer. But some cash may be better than a tax deduction.
Shop around the family you may be able to sell the stuff to a family member for cash who will then
do a donation for the tax write off. The family member would not have to even touch the stuff. It would
just be a mater of getting the right name on the donation paper work.
