Passive infrared detectors - yes.

Ah, that's a pretty broad statement - depends on the glass - 
the "infrared" - and the detector.  I have PIRs so sensitive 
that they can
"see" people right through glass windows.  Not good when the 
neighborhood kids "figure out" how to set off an alarm...  
(cops don't like false alarms - neither do I).
