[R-390] Megacycle Change clamp

The Megacycle Change gear's clamp broke.
I need to remove the front gear plate to fix it.
Is there any chance, I can do this without
removing the IF module, and the Crystal unit
as instructed in the manual?
Breaking an IF core would be a disaster.
I have very shaky hands.
I found a screwdriver handled Bristol set.
The eBay Bristol L keys were a waste of money.
