Unfortunately, the flux inside current cored solders is NOT the same 
old activated rosin [at least, here in the US].  You can get solder 
that has an "activated rosin" core, but it neither works nor smells 
the same as the old activated rosin.  It is still possible to buy 
decent activated rosin flux in bottles, but that could end at any time.
