Casual use...yes....ragchewing, schedules with a few friends on a round
table discussion..no problem at all....CW or SSB.

But...

When's the last time you used one for a SSB/DX contest or busting a split
frequency pileup on a rare DX station while trying to listen to both sides
of the split....all the while fiddling with the RF gain and BFO adjustments
to try an gain any significant intelligence out of it.

It's a pain...

Best suited to listening to BBC or chasing an African local broadcast on the
tropical bands.

I'll keep my FT-1000MP MkV for the heavy Amateur Radio stuff....

There has always been a lot of "talk" regarding the use of R-390As in a
ham shack.

I find many comments to be very odd.

IF you can't get it to work for you on CW and SSB, maybe you ought to
give it away or sell it.

The intercept operators had NO problem with doing JUST those tasks.

I may only be licensed for a hair over 29 years, BUT, I've been running
R-390As for ALL modes with NO problems OR issues!

It doesn't take a "Amateur" community design to do the job!

My $0.02 worth!
