Gosh, 40 years ago... I was living @ home, waiting for a "slot"? (training schedule window)
to open @ Ft. Benning so I could get my MOS. 
Watched the event on our ancient B&W TV.

I saw the launch go off in person a few weeks before!

At that time, lots of Orlando folks were involved in one way or the other, 
There were a bunch of us in the old neighborhood that went over the Jetty Park to watch the 
titanic beasts shake the Earth on their way to the mission objective.
