It probably wouldn't be too difficult to make a speech amp to drive 
the screen for AM (or maybe even modify the oscillator into a speech 
amp), although screen modulation is pretty funky and you wouldn't 
want to try producing anywhere near 100% modulation.  If you 
predistort the audio, you can often get to 75-80% modulation with OK 
performance.
