There's a lot more info in the referenced survey, but none of it is good  
news.  The basic conclusion is that the boat would have to be stripped  inside 
and almost completely rebuilt to be suitable for commercial  service.  They're 
estimating about 1/2 million pounds of new steel needed,  and if you have to 
ask about the labor costs -you can't afford it.   Sounds like it's headed for 
the scrap heap, unless you want to put it in your  backyard as a "shack".  It's 
very similar to the ferries we take to get off  the Eastern end of Long Island.
