I underwstand that really advanced cases have symptoms which include 
trying to reconstruct Babbage's Difference Engine and Vannevar Bush's
Differential Analyzer. 

Lovely widgetry, of which the 390 and its relatives are the most 
easily available exemplars. Think of 'em as steampunk electronics.
