I have a snippet I found in my archives that mentions the unit --

---------
The Communications Central AN/TSC-26 consisted of three S-280
size shelters (VAN's); one RCVR VAN, one XMTR VAN, and one
Control VAN. The AN/TSC-26 was used mainly at the Special Forces
Operating Base (SFOB) and could be deployed to support a Battalion
FOB.

In the original AN/TSC-26 configuration the RCVR VAN had three
positions. Each had two R-390(*) RCVR's, two CV-1716/GR's, two
Kahn CV-1982 ISB converters, one RD-265/GR, a IDY intercept alarm,
and a control panel to control the three XMTR's in the XMTR VAN.
Also it had the I think also this was also one the systems that had
an AN/GSH-7 recorder/convertors and play back unit AN/TSC-26. The
latter were for decoding GRA-71 burst transmissions.

---------

Roger might be able to comment, as this was around during his tour of
duty.

Does anyone know anything about this? Is it solid state? Has anyone
body used one?
