Bill you are right. I am thankful that many people do take the time to  list 
things on eBay that might otherwise get thrown away or perhaps lost from an  
estate. Some people get into bidding wars but all that is fair and very good 
for  the seller at least! Some of us can't help but be amazed at the prices some 
 things get bid up to though!
 
Perhaps someone has an otherwise mint R-390A and loves the receiver, but it  
is missing one thing - the carrier level meter. Where else is someone  likely 
to find something like that in a hurry except on eBay! He may be willing  to 
spend $200 or more for a meter to complete his beloved receiver. One could  
spend a lifetime of hunting through hamfests and not find exactly what they are  
looking for so eBay can be a wonderful resource.
