[R-390] More on the R-1283/GRC

Well I had a senior moment. In fact I do have a manual for my R-1283.  
It came with it when I bought it at a Ham Fest last summer. I haven't  
looked at the radio until this past weekend when I decided to play  
around with it. I just now remembered it came with a manual. I dug  
around and found it. I now know what all the jacks on the back are  
for and where to hook up my audio amplifier. I still have no idea  
what would cause a hum when using an outdoor antenna, but no him when  
using a short piece of wire. I use this antenna with several other  
radios, and get no hum with them. Only the R-1283. Any suggestions  
will be appreciated.
