Arthur, if you like things portable you might look into getting an
R-392. That's the mobile, if not exactly portable, version of the
R-390. It runs on 24 to 28v DC. It's waterproof too. It even floats. 8-)
It's really quite a good receiver and since the case is sealed it's
usually very clean inside. They're not too hard to find and a lot
cheaper than a good R-390.
