[R-390] New Guy Checking In

Hello to the list! I just signed on, figured I'd introduce myself.

I began life as a SWL/BCBDX'er, and about the age of 11 became a ham (ex-KN4ZLZ). I had an Knight Ocean Hopper as my receiver, and a homebrew transmitter which MIGHT have worked up to 15 watts on occasion, into an 80-meter dipole strung too low in my backyard trees. I loved summertime, when I could visit my grandparents on their farm. They had lots of high trees from which to string dipoles and more exotic antennas.

After college, I listened to radio traffic for the Marine Corps, where I grew fond of the R-390. A few years after that, I became interested again in ham radio, and was re-licensed as KD4CSO.

Now I've become enamored of the R-390 again. I don't have one -- yet -- but I'm looking around. My favorite things to do are any sort of portable or itinerant operation, and camping. Give me a problem to solve, and I'm a happy guy. Even better if you show me a guy who says "it can't be done."

I look forward to kearning from each of you.

Radio is still magic to me.

73 de KD4CSO,
Arthur Laurent
