Sorry George.  I have my bamboo Geotec right here.  About this time the 
students (when I was young and we went to
school through the snow in pyjamas since the horses froze.....) perform 
the ritual of taking their slide rules apart, cleaning
them, lubricating them with baby powder, polishing the cursor and 
realigning the scales.  Its the pre-exam tuneup!  The
bamboo is best to avoid calibration errors from hand heat.
