Dennis and the group,
I learned the thorough use of the slide rule as part of an year long
extensive training in Nuclear Reactor Operations and Maintenance.
I pull out my "paint stirrer" several times a year. I find it
refreshing to do this, AND watch the looks of those whom have grown up
with nothing BUT calculators. Most of THOSE are locked into the
formulas being built into the calculator. They simply plug in the
figures for the variables. Unfortunately I find that "they" do NOT know
what the variables REALLY are.
I have K&E AND Picketts. All are Deci-Logs.
I "may" be getting OLD, but, I try and keep mentally sharp. Hence my
discussion on another list regarding the "purported" complete
interchangeability of E for V, and A for I. There are specific
reference materials that list the use of these terms AND what they
"actually" refer to.
Those that fail to hold to "defined" standards, make errors in their
results.
