Like it or not eBay is focused on sellers rather than buyers. It's a
bit tough to notice that at times, but it is the way they work.
The basic thought is that the seller does not get any more money if
the auction is delayed by a "normal" amount" (say 10 minutes). The
part of the argument is that the load on eBay's server farm goes way
up if you do that. I'll admit you have to go back a ways, but server
farm crashes used to be a *very* common thing with eBay.
