Thanks, now I know. Years ago I used to hear Charlie WB0WZG on 3895 say "And 
now I'm going to sit back, put my feet up, and keep warm with the glow of 
the 813's"

I think the? roots are in WW2 coupled with referring to tubes as bottles
-
its only natural that beer followed after that. I dont think I ever met
a
ham who couldnt connect the 807 to a nice cold beer and the fellowship
around the brew. Ive also heard reference to an "813" - a good drink of
rye
whiskey.
