First off no one chased of Nolan. Nolan has decided to do some
work that requires him to be transparent. He IS VERY MISSED.
Dallas Langford has been around for a long time doing a lot of
studies and papers on selectivity and sensitivity improvement
to numerous boat anchors and loop antenna design. I respect him
for his knowledge and his willingness to share it with others.
Mr. Langford is like that old Sergeant Major or Colonel who's
shorts are always chaffing them and their hemorrhoids are
flaring up. They will chew your head off for some minor
infraction and then turn around and ask you how your mother or
your family is doing. He's PO'd today but will forget about it
in a few days and will be back to his helpfull self. He HAS
been a little shorter fused since his stroke several years.
Dr. Jerry could be a real horse's rear at times but he had some
really good information. He may have made you fell real stupid
for asking the question but you got an answer that was
complete.
There are several other tricksters about who from time to time
start a thread that they know will rile up some of the list
members and they do it because they get a kick out of it. Quite
personally I do sometimes too. Some of you are so predictable.
Yeah, I've stepped on toes a few times, probably PO'd a few
also, but guess what? Who really gives a s**t? This list is a
slice of life. We are all here because we have some form of
attraction to the R-390(*) series of receivers. Some of them
are real performers some of them are just so, and some of them
are real dogs. Just like US......... Hell who else would want
us?
So what's with all the p'ing and moaning? This isn't a perfect
world. It will never be no matter how hard we try. So let's all
go play and be happy.
I'm really interested in finding out more about Dallas' thesis
on putting a roofing filter in the R-390(*) and what it will do
for the noise floor and overall sensitivity.
