[R-390] R-390 sideband adapter

I've found it interesting watching eBay the last couple of days-   A CV-591 
SSB adapter went for $475, yet a solid-state SSB adapter kit by Jan Skirrow at 
$150 hasn't seen a bid.   Is it just tubes versus solid state, or are most not 
interested in SSB?   I've been using the adapter I built several years ago, 
and I think it works better than the CV-591 I used to have.
