[R-390] Propagation question

The cause of your dish loosing signal is rain attenuation.  The signal is 
blocked by enough water that the level that does get through exceeds the bit 
error rate of your receiver.  My guess is the lightning vaporizes the water 
in it's path and momentarily reduces the amount of water between your 
antenna and the satellite transponder causing an increase in signal strength 
and a resulting reduction in bit error rate to just below your receivers 
threshold.  Of course that's just a guess...it could also just be 
coincidence.
